Most guests arrive into Port Vila and are at the lodge within 15–20 minutes, travelling past lush gardens, coastal bends, and village life. Whether you choose a private taxi, a group transfer, or prefer to drive yourself, your arrival can be arranged in advance so you land with peace of mind.

Port Vila is well-connected to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and New Caledonia, with direct flights arriving several times a week. Once on the island, transport is easy and friendly—Ni-Van drivers are relaxed, reliable, and proud to welcome visitors.

Taxi Transfer

(1–4 people)

Need a ride to or from the airport to Seahorse Lodge? For groups of 1–4, our trusted private driver Moses offers a stylish and stress-free transfer in one of the island’s rare, air-conditioned taxis. By selecting this option, we’ll provide you with Moses’ direct contact details so you can coordinate your arrival time and fare with him personally. It’s the perfect way to start your Vanuatu getaway with comfort, convenience, and a friendly local welcome.

Public Transport

Public transport in Port Vila is informal but extremely accessible:

Buses (marked “B”) operate everywhere and are the most common transport for locals.
Fares are usually 300–500 Vatu per person depending on distance.
They do not run on fixed schedules but can be flagged down anywhere.

To reach Seahorse Lodge via local bus, tell the driver “Mele Bay – Seahorse Lodge” and they will take you to the nearest access point.

This is a great low-cost option for travellers happy to experience local life, but not recommended when travelling with lots of luggage.

Self-Drive

Port Vila has several car rental companies offering competitive rates. The drive to Seahorse Lodge is simple, taking 15–20 minutes along sealed and unsealed main roads.

Driving suits guests who want flexibility to explore beaches, cafés, the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls, and local villages at their own pace.

We suggest our guests with more than 4 people hire a 4 Door Ute with air-conditioning. This will provide your guests with a true Vanuatu native driving experience, and everyone will laugh and feel like kids again!

Note: Vanuatu drives on the right side of the road and because of the poor condition of the roads, speeds are usually 60km/hour or less.
